Content Warning Information
I understand that some readers may become upset by certain topics in their works. This section is dedicated to explaining in a bit more detail what each topic means (in a spoiler-free way).
NOTE: This book is autofiction, meaning that while some parts of this book are fictionalized, some of the elements are based on real life events, such as the slur usage toward the queer MC. I do not condone things like DV, homophobia, and slur usage. This book was made to bring awareness to problems in our society relating to situations like domestic violence, PTSD, and homophobia, and WILL CONDEMN these harmful behaviors.
Domestic Violence: This book discusses domestic violence in its entirety. It does not romanticize abuse in any way, shape, or form. If you are not comfortable with this, I recommend you skip this novel.
Suicide: The main antagonist commits suicide. This is described at the beginning of the book. There are also references and comments made throughout that allude suicidal ideations and attempts. If you are uncomfortable with these topics, I recommend you skip this novel.
Self-Harm: The main antagonist harms himself in the book, though this is briefly mentioned.
Sexual Content: There is a sex scene in this novel (Chapter 9). There is also mentions of sexually exploitive behaviors and sexual assault in Chapter 8.
Profanity: This book uses heavy profanity throughout.
Dead Animal: A dead animal is used as a description in Chapter 2 of the book and described as being hit by a car.
Alcohol/Drug Use: There is alcohol and cigarette use throughout the novel. Weed is mentioned briefly but never used. Drugs are also mentioned briefly (see Suicide).
Homophobia: This book uses depictions of homophobia throughout towards the queer MC. This includes but is not limited to: descriptions of homophobic behaviors, slur usage, and homophobic comments.
Slur Usage: There are two LGBTQ+ related slurs used in the novel. Both are used in a hateful context and the book condemns the use of them towards LGBTQ+ people. We do not condone the use of these slurs in the slightest and this book moves to condemn their use entirely by pointing out the hatefulness behind them.
Sexual Assault: There is a sexual assault attempt briefly described in the novel. This is not very detailed but a brief recollection by the MC.
Discussion of Gender Dysphoria: Gender dysphoria is brought up multiple times throughout the novel including descriptions of how it works. We understand that some may feel uncomfortable with these messages and decided to include that information here.
